American Federation of Mineralogical Societies -
"The American Federation of Mineralogical Societies is a not-for-profit federation of seven
similar regional organizations of gem, mineral and lapidary societies.

Founded in 1947"

This society follows and endorses the AFMS Code of Ethics.

Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogical Societies -
RMFMS is a Non-Profit Educational Federation of Gem, Mineral, and Lapidary Societies

A regional federation of rockhounds whose hobby is gems, minerals and fossils. Member
interests include Channel Work Jewelry, Faceting, Fossils, Gems, Gem Trees, Geology,
Goldsmithing, Jewelry, Lapidary Arts, Minerals, Paleontology, Silversmithing, Wire Wrap
Jewelry, Stone Carving, Knapping, Beads, and More.

Our purpose is to bring about a closer association of the Earth Science Groups in the Rocky
Mountain Region. To increase and disseminate knowledge about minerals and other
geologic materials. To encourage mineral study, collecting and fashioning as a hobby. To
sponsor local organizations interested in similar purposes (RMFMS Constitution).

Member Clubs are located in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska,
New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

localities. Information includes printable maps. This site is kindly provided and maintained by
North Jeffco Gem and Mineral Club.

of the Interior. In addition to listing information on the National Parks of Colorado (or any other
State) this site contains interesting historical and cultural information.

Contin-Tail Information -
hosted by the Colorado Federation of Gem and Mineral Societies, Contin-Tail is billed as the largest outdoor gem and mineral show in Colorado.

Gold Rush Days -
The Buena Vista Gold Rush Days offers visitors a variety of activities and spectacles. In
addition to panning for gold, there are other activities: on-the-street Old West style shootouts,
live music, the burro race (quite a sight to see), refreshments and a variety of vendors.

The Rock Doc -
Centrally located in Chaffee County on Highway 285, The Rock Doc
provides a chance to "See What The World Is Made Of". Mineral specimens from near and far, gold
panning lessons, prospecting maps, books and a huge selection of gold prospecting and rockhounding
equipment can be found under one roof. An added bonus is the on-site Geological Engineer who
can answer questions and offer an opinion on those mysterious specimens you've found.
